What is the technology behind IQOS ILUMA deivces?

Each device from the IQOS ILUMA series is comes with the revolutionary SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM^TM technology. These devices do not have a heating blade, instead they are used with tobacco sticks specially designed for IQOS ILUMA devices, and with the help of induction heating, the tobacco is heated from the inside - without burning it and without the need to clean the device. This way, IQOS ILUMA devices provide adult smokers with an alternative to continued smoking without tobacco smoke and tobacco residue, but with improved draw and more tobacco vapor.  The result is – there’s no need for cleaning the device. How is SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM^TM different from IQOS HeatControl^TM technology?

All tobacco heating products have a source of heat, and the exact temperature at which the tobacco is heated varies from product to product. What is important for such devices is that they do not heat the tobacco in high temperatures that it starts to burn.

Unlike IQOS ILUMA devices, IQOS ORIGINALS DUO and IQOS 3 DUO devices have blade inside the devices and it heats tobacco at a significantly lower temperature than a cigarette. Thanks to the patented IQOS HeatControl™ technology, these devices heat the tobacco using a blade that pierces the tobacco stick and it heats it from the inside. This is how the aerosol containing nicotine is produced, but without burning tobacco.

How different is the SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM^TM technology from the HeatControl™ technology? 

The new technology heats tobacco thanks to the heating element inside the tobacco stick itself, coated with stainless steel.

IQOS ILUMA^TM is designed to be used only with tobacco sticks specially designed for IQOS ILUMA^TM devices. Do not use IQOS ILUMA^TM and tobacco sticks specially designed for IQOS ILUMA^TM devices with previous ILUMA^TM generations, as this may cause damage to your device.
