IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ORIGINALS DUO are devices for tobacco heating. They have some similarities, but much more differences.

How advanced is the new IQOS ILUMA? 

Well, it’s got all the features you know from IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, such as:

But what are the differences? Well, IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ORIGINALS DUO have unique features.

IQOS ILUMA Pocket Chargers have new colours and there are new accessories for them. New tobacco sticks have been designed for IQOS ILUMA with improved draw and generous vapour. 

 

But the biggest difference? It’s inside.

 

IQOS ILUMA’s SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM^TM heats tobacco from within with a sealed stick with no blade. And no blade means:

 

- No cleaning 

- No tobacco residue

- No more broken blades

- Easy insertion and extraction of tobacco sticks

But that’s not all. We’ve added advanced features.

The IQOS ORIGINALS DUO holder contains a special coated heating foil with state-of-the-art electronics that regulate the heat for a consistent experience: HeatControl™ technology heats the specially designed tobacco sticks instead of burning them.

The SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ by IQOS ILUMA, on the other hand, heats tobacco by induction thanks to a heating element inside the SMARTCORE STICKS.™ IQOS ILUMA therefore does not have a foil inside the device and is more reliable when compared to previous IQOS models**. The SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ and the SMARTCORE STICKS™ combine innovative technology, true tobacco taste and have been designed to guarantee a superior taste experience.

IQOS ILUMA vs IQOS ORIGINALS DUO tobacco sticks

Different devices, different tobacco sticks: the IQOS ILUMA line has been designed to be used exclusively with SMARTCORE STICKS, which have an innovative stainless steel-coated metal heating element inserted directly inside the sticks™. SMARTCORE STICKS™ are not compatible with IQOS ORIGINALS DUO or earlier IQOS models.

Unlike the tobacco sticks compatible with previous IQOS models, the new SMARTCORE STICKS are sealed at the ends™, so when used with ILUMA IQOS devices they leave no residue inside the holder.

Compared to IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, IQOS ILUMA devices are slightly larger. To accommodate the new SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ heating technology, a larger and more robust device has been designed.

The IQOS Charging Dock has an elegant and intuitive design. It charges your IQOS Pocket Charger and you can use the Holder while you wait. The IQOS Charging Dock is compatible with IQOS ILUMA, IQOS 3 DUO and IQOS 3.
